Rules to follow
- Send two identical color passport-style photos taken recently.
- Each photo is 2 × 2 inches with a full-face, frontal view.
- Head height from top of hair to bottom of chin is 1 to 1⅜ inches.
- Eye height is 1⅛ to 1⅜ inches from the bottom of the photo.
- Use a white to off-white background.
- Print on thin paper with a glossy finish, unmounted and unretouched.
- Keep your head bare unless your religion requires a head covering.
- Take off your glasses so the photo meets U.S. passport-photo standards.
- Print your name and A-Number lightly on the back in pencil or felt pen.
Why U.S. Work Permit (EAD, Form I-765) photos get rejected
- Only one photo enclosed instead of two.
- Prints on thick card stock or matte paper.
- Eye line too low because the head is placed too far down.
- Name written in pen that bleeds through the front.

Questions
Is the EAD photo the same as the green card photo?
The specifications are identical — 2 × 2 in, white to off-white background, head 1–1⅜ in. If you file I-765 together with I-485, each form’s instructions ask for its own two photos, so print enough for both.
Can I wear a religious head covering in my EAD photo?
Yes. Form I-765 instructions say your head must be bare unless you wear headwear required by your religious denomination.
Can I print EAD photos at a drugstore kiosk?
Yes. Order a 4 × 6 print of our sheet on glossy paper, then cut out two photos along the guides. Avoid matte or heavyweight paper.
